My first urgent priority as a council member is to seek permanent solutions to properly fund the Gresham Fire Department and Police Department.

In May 2024 Gresham voters passed a five-year operating levy for Gresham Fire and Police, Measure 26-247. Securing permanent funding solutions must be the next step in expanding our public safety services so that we can meet all the diverse needs of a growing Gresham.

My second priority once elected will be to utilize my skills and experience in elected office to ensure our city makes smart decisions on the following issues.

Climate Action: Our city needs solutions that reduce the impact of extreme weather events through thoughtful infrastructure code changes and expanded services. The Council has approved a Climate Action Plan that seeks to meet a varied set of goals in Gresham. We must prioritize strategically as we work toward these goals so that Gresham's most urgent interests are met equitably.

Family Housing: Our city should prioritize community-focused housing development so that families of all kinds can prosper in Gresham. This means encouraging multi-generational and affordable housing, and creating inclusive and safe neighborhoods with more trees, more green spaces, and more opportunity.

Community Engagement: Our city benefits from strengthening our Council Advisory Committees and engaging members from all neighborhoods in the city. As a council member, I hope to be continuing conversations with citizens and community organizations to ensure all voices are being heard and that each decision is made equitably.

Why Jacquenette:

For 36 years, Gresham has been my home. It’s where I raised my children, built my career, and ran a small business for over 30 years. As a grandmother of five, I understand the struggles that families face today.

When my children were young, I served four years on the Gresham City Council, where I was known for my common sense and logical approach to finding solutions. I've done this job before, and I understand how to be effective on the council today.

Since then, I was appointed to the Mt. Hood Cable Regulatory Commission (2019–2021) and completed a Fellowship in Community Organizing with East County Rising Community Projects. I'm passionate about serving my community through many avenues.

As a regulatory professional with 15 years of experience in aerospace manufacturing, I have a dedication to fine details and their impact on the larger picture. This key competency will be crucial as we seek solutions for the issues facing Gresham. This is why I'm running.
